Beginnings of a New World (Sims 3)

Thanks to¬†Stargrace, I recently purchased Sims 3 and all of its expansions. When Sims 3 first came out, I didn’t buy it for a number of reasons. First, my computer was fairly old and wouldn’t run it very well, and second, EA was considering putting in very destructive forms of copy protection that could damage computers, limited installs even for those who buy the discs, and in-game advertising among other more minor things. Fortunately, they decided to do none of these things to my knowledge, so when I recently got back into a sims mood, I went ahead and dove in.

Other than being so busy playing my games (and majorly neglecting my blog), I’ve been messing with the Sims 3 Create a World tool. I’m not very far at all along with it yet. I’ve mostly just been playing with the terrain sculpting features and haven’t even gotten to any of the other fun stuff like painting the terrain, or building roads and lots.

I have a theme in mind that involves mountains, lakes, and rivers, and I want a few lots tucked away in these places. The photo here is my first attempt at some lot alcoves. I have no idea if sims will be able to access either of those alcoves, but I’m sure there’s a way to do it as my sim in-game has visited places where vehicles and roads won’t reach.

The mountain with alcoves is only a small area of the terrain map, so I have a lot more work left to do just with terrain sculpting, and it all will need to be painted so that it looks at least somewhat realistic for the world I have in mind. So far, I’ve been having a good time with it though. We’ll see how everything shapes up. I’ll keep you posted. (I hope!)

*gasp* What do my eyes see?! Can it be?! A Christmas miracle! A blog post! *giggles* I really like what you’ve done so far, and if you continue to write about Sims 3 (or any game for that matter) you can be sure I’ll be here eager to read it!

I’ve really been having a blast with the game so far, and I haven’t delved that far into the expansions to be honest. Right when I decide I want my Sim to take a trip I get caught up in some other adventure.

    Thanks! Definitely a Christmas miracle!

I usually let my sim travel on (sim) weekends and when he has a wish to explore a tomb, or gets asked to go by someone in town, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. He’ll get invited to a party, or an opportunity will come up, or he’ll get called into work before he can get rested and out the door.
