Stupid gamer behavior (Minecraft)

Even though Minecraft has been all the rage lately, I haven’t yet played it, but yesterday through EQ2 dev Domino’s blog, I heard that some jerks were inflicting a DDOS on the Minecraft servers because they were unhappy the lone Minecraft developer, Notch, wasn’t putting out updates fast enough to suit them.

The jerks are lucky they even get to play Minecraft at all. Notch didn’t have to develop and support the game in the first place. The jerks could be Minecraft-free to this day, but instead they are whining about not getting what they want fast enough, and possibly harming someone’s livelihood in the process. Good thing they aren’t Diablo fans or they would be waiting years for the next update should one ever actually happen. Maybe the rest of us would be lucky and they would self-combust in their frustration.

There are plenty of things I dislike about every game I’ve played. Every single one. No game has been perfect in my eyes. Things that I’ve passionately liked, others have passionately disliked, and vice versa. If I continue playing a game, it is because there are more things about it that I enjoy than otherwise. If I ever reach a point where I so intensely dislike most parts of the game, and there are no improvements in sight, guess what? I LEAVE. Yes, that’s right, I leave and go play some other game that I do enjoy.

Not that it ever seems to happen to me since I’m slow and putter around so much, but what if I run out of things to do in the game I’m currently playing? I then look around my room at my ever-growing stack of unplayed and unfinished games and, guess what? I PLAY ONE. Or two. Or even three at a time. Sheesh! Is Minecraft in itself the end all, be all of these jerks’ existence that they have no other games to play while waiting for a freaking update? Get over it, guys!

minecraft is an addiction. i hesitated to play it because i didn’t think crafting and punching rocks could possibly be worth the cost, and now i play it every day on my friends server.

i don’t sympathize with these jerks, but i can guess that it really is the be all and end all of their existence.

The crafting part is what scares me the most about trying out Minecraft. I’m a craftaholic in practically every game I’ve played!
